Free Family Tree Trace

Trace your family tree.

Because of constraints of time and money, many genealogists look for a free family tree trace to document their heritage. One such resource is offered by Your Family Tree. This online resource offers a free how-to guide, links to other resources, family tree templates and a variety of free information.

Don't Reinvent The Wheel

Tapping into research that someone has already done is one of the greatest (and easiest) ways to get a free family tree trace. It is almost like winning the lottery when you find a well-researched, well-documented genealogical history already conveniently compiled on your ancestors. The only caveat to using existing information that someone else researched, is that you must always verify the accuracy by going to the original sources. Citing sources is one of the most important duties of every genealogist. It is also, unfortunately, one of the most common mistakes made by beginners. Every family historian has the story of finding a record of major importance only to forget where he or she obtained the information! Cite your own sources, and research those provided by other genealogists.
